Ottawa, March 12, 2022 – Wheelchair Rugby Canada advances to the Finals after a semi-final win against Brazil, the final score was 52-35. Canada will officially play at the WWR World Championships in Vejle, Denmark this October after securing a top 3 finish.

“It’s always important to have a good start, it didn’t look like it because the score was close in the first quarter, but the guys applied the plan,” said Head Coach, Patrick Côté. “The guys [rose] to the occasion, again.”

Undefeated through their first 6 games, Canada will have a chance to go perfect this afternoon.

Côté on Canada’s berth to Worlds: “This is what we came here for, we just celebrated the moment. It also gives us an important ticket to the [anticipated USA game] this afternoon, without any pressure.”

“Coming into the Zonal Championships our primary goal was to qualify [for Worlds]. This morning we accomplished that goal with a complete team performance. This afternoon we look to keep our streak going and have our best performance of the tournament,” said Byron Green.

Canada will play for gold against the winner of the USA vs. Colombia match. The finals are scheduled for 4:30pm EST, 1:30pm PST.
