Wheelchair Rugby Canada is proud to announce the 12-athlete roster that will represent Canada at the 2026 World Wheelchair Rugby (WWR) World Championship, to be held in São Paulo, Brazil, from August 17–24. The tournament will bring together the world’s top 12 wheelchair rugby nations to compete for the world title.

Canada will compete in Pool A alongside Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United States. Pool B features Japan, Great Britain, France, Germany, Colombia, and Denmark. 

The 2026 roster features a strong mix of veteran leadership and emerging talent. Four athletes will make their World Championship debuts in São Paulo: Maxime Drolet-Gauthier, Rio Kanda Kovac, Austin MacLellan, and Yanick Racicot. 

“We are excited for this next chapter. This roster brings together a mix of fresh talent and veteran leadership, marking a huge moment for the growth of Wheelchair Rugby Canada” said Head Coach, Trevor Hircshfield. “Going head-to-head with the best teams in the world is the ultimate development opportunity for our group. It is going to be a positive experience for our first-time athletes to learn from the veterans and test their skills against elite competition as we keep building our program.” 

Competition begins on August 17, when Canada opens the tournament against Australia. Team Canada will then face Brazil on August 18, the United States on August 19, and conclude the preliminary round against the Netherlands and New Zealand on August 20. Crossover and quarter/semifinal matches will take place from August 21–22, before the medal matches on August 23.
