Moncton, Parasport New Brunswick to host 2023 Wheelchair Rugby National Championships

December 12, 2022 – Wheelchair Rugby Canada (WRC) and Parasport New Brunswick are excited to reveal Moncton as the host city for the 2023 Wheelchair Rugby National Championships.
“Parasport NB is thrilled at the opportunity to host Wheelchair Rugby Nationals for the first time since the inception of the event and showcase wheelchair rugby in New Brunswick,” said Parasport NB Executive Director, Sally Hutt. “For many of our athletes, this will be the first time that family and friends can come watch, cheer and experience Wheelchair Rugby Nationals and Team NB cannot wait to play on home soil!”
The 3-day tournament is scheduled at Moncton Coliseum and commences on Friday, May 5 and concludes Sunday, May 7th.
“On behalf of the Domestic Programs Committee, I would like to congratulate Parasport New Brunswick for their commitment to host the National Championships next May in Moncton,” said Patrice Dagenais. “We are all very excited to get the opportunity to compete and spend time in the city of Moncton who host Nationals for the first time. We are confident that the organizing committee will do a spectacular job and that the event will be a great success.”
“This is the first time the national championship has been held in New Brunswick and we are proud that Moncton was chosen to host this outstanding event,” says Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold. “We look forward to welcoming Canada’s top wheelchair rugby athletes to our city. Having the opportunity to see them in action will be an inspiration for our local players and will encourage the sport to grow in our community and across the province.”
