February is Black History Month
February 1, 2023During Black History Month, Canadians celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians and their communities who, throughout history, have done so much to make Canada a culturally diverse, compassionate, and prosperous country.
Wheelchair Rugby Canada stands with our Paralympic community in acknowledging and celebrating the important contributions of Black individuals. As an organization that serves to create sport-equity for minority populations, it is important that we use our platform to engage our communities in the pursuit of racial equity.

WRC Equity Initiatives
WRC is looking internally to grow and learn as an organization in the DE&I space. One of the ways we’re looking to achieve this is assembling a working group. It is essential that our DE&I strategy is integrated in all aspects of how we operate. We are looking to build a diverse group of stakeholders, inclusive of our staff, directors, and athletes. Our goal is to improve and expand our community; there is still much to learn about the barriers that members of our communities continue to face.
