Team Canada Completes Tri Nations Tournament

Wheelchair Rugby Canada (WRC) wraps up their 4 days of competition with a loss to the United States in the Semi-final, 47-48. Down 5 early in the third, Canada fought back to tie it late in the final quarter, nearly forcing overtime.

“Our comeback in the second half shows how much fight we have in us,” said Dagenais. “We are not a team that is going to quit, because we believe we can hang with the best teams. Even though it was a loss, this game is a confidence booster heading into our next competition.”

USA advanced to the Final vs. Great Britain, ultimately winning 55-54.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our guys today,” said Coach Patrick, “Fighting back from down 5 and almost force OT against the USA, not too many teams can do that! Like we say, games vs the U.S. are always going to be 50-50 and the last 2 days didn’t disappoint. Obviously, we would have liked to win this one, but overall, there a lot of positives to take out of this past week.”

Canada will be back in action in early August at the Musholm Cup in Denmark.
