Thursday May 19, 2022 – Wheelchair Rugby Canada (WRC) announces that Mike Whitehead will serve as Team Canada Head Coach at The World Games’ Low-Point Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama. The Low-Point Tournament is a competition for 0.5-1.5 class players.

“Having our top 8 low-pointers attend the first ever Low Point world championships is an honour and privilege, said Coach Mike. “We look forward to this opportunity to represent our country.”

Whitehead previously coached Team Canada’s Low-point Squad in Switzerland in late 2021.

The World Games’ is scheduled for July 7-17, 2022, with the Wheelchair Rugby competition beginning Thursday, July 14th.

ABOUT CLASSIFICATION AT THE WORLD GAMES

In this event, players are classed into one of three classes (0.5, 1.0, 1.5) depending on their functional ability. The higher classes are assigned to players with higher functional levels, while lower classifications are assigned to players with less functional ability.
