The Wheelchair Rugby Canada Board of Directors is seeking skilled and enthusiastic individuals to join our board. We value diversity and are looking for candidates with leadership qualities, strategic thinking, financial acumen, and strong communication skills to enhance our board’s effectiveness.

Wheelchair Rugby Canada is a world leader in the sport, advocating for wheelchair athletes and committed to excellence in all our programs. We operate within a competency governance model, and we currently have openings for candidates with experience in Human Resources, Sponsorship, Marketing and Communications, or Legal, in either paid or volunteer settings.

Human Resource:

The ideal candidate will provide strategic guidance in talent management, employee engagement, and organizational development. They will support the development of HR policies, ensure legal compliance, and foster an inclusive culture to maximize our impact in the sporting community.

Sponsorship:

The ideal candidate will excel in securing and managing corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and fundraising. They will drive financial sustainability, support the development of strategies to attract and retain sponsors, and contribute to our organization’s growth and success.

Marketing and Communications:

The ideal candidate will support the development and execution of strategic marketing plans, provide input to enhance brand visibility, and engaging our community. They will provide guidance on digital platforms, the management of social media, and support effective communication strategies to promote our mission, programs, and events.

Legal:

The ideal candidate will provide valuable legal guidance, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. They will provide support for contracts, mitigate risks, and safeguard our organization’s interests, promoting fair and ethical practices within the sporting community.

Passion for sports and understanding of board governance are essential. Bilingual proficiency is an asset.

Responsibilities:

All board members are expected to fulfill their governance duties, including attending board meetings, contributing to decision-making, and overseeing policies and finances.

Eligibility:

Individuals aged 18 or older, Canadian residents, legally able to contract, not declared incapable by a court, and not bankrupt, are eligible for nomination as a director.
