Wheelchair Rugby Canada Welcomes Emma Shimizu as Team Operations Coordinator

Wheelchair Rugby Canada (WRC) is thrilled to welcome Emma Shimizu, who joined the organization in mid-October as Team Operations Coordinator, supporting the National Team and next-generation high-performance program.

Reporting to the High-Performance Director, Emma will coordinate team logistics for training camps and competitions and serve as the primary point of contact for team services, helping ensure athletes have the resources and support they need to succeed on the national and international stage.

Emma joins WRC from Wheelchair Basketball Canada, where she served as High Performance Coordinator, supporting the Senior Women’s, Senior Men’s, and U23 National Teams at domestic and international camps and competitions. She also brings experience in inclusive recreation and coaching.

“I’m really excited to be joining Wheelchair Rugby Canada and continuing to work in the world of Canadian high-performance sport,” said Shimizu. “I’ve been so fortunate to work alongside some incredible athletes and staff over the past few years, and I’m looking forward to bringing what I’ve learned into this new role. I’m excited to get to know the wheelchair rugby community while learning more about the sport, and to be a part of what’s ahead for the NT program.”

WRC is pleased to have Emma on board and looks forward to the contributions she will make to its high-performance programming.
