Wheelchair Rugby Canada welcomes Avery Lightfoot as Programs Coordinator

Wheelchair Rugby Canada is excited to welcome Avery Lightfoot to the organization, who has taken on the role of Programs Coordinator.

In this full-time role, Lightfoot will lead the National Championships and the Community Sport for All Initiative, ensuring effective coordination, planning, and delivery of these key domestic projects. She will also play a central role in advancing the growth of domestic wheelchair rugby by guiding national programs and events that encourage participation and strengthen the domestic system. Her responsibilities include administering the Podium Club program, overseeing the Women in Leadership Development Program, and maintaining the National Domestic Calendar in collaboration with the communications coordinator to ensure alignment with provincial and national programming.

Lightfoot will further support the Domestic Programs Committee, coordinate Provincial Partner and Club meetings, and collaborate on training and education initiatives for coaches, match officials, and classifiers, while promoting Safe Sport practices across all programming.

She holds a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies, majoring in Sport Management with a minor in Kinesiology, along with a Diploma in Business Administration, both from the University of Regina. Lightfoot also brings valuable experience from previous roles with the Saskatchewan Games Council, the Coaching Association of Canada, and the Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association, where she contributed to event planning, program development, and sport promotion.
