2022 Americas Championship Postponed

January 12th, 2022, Ottawa – Wheelchair Rugby Canada (WRC) supports the Organizing Committee of the 2022 WWR Americas Championship in the decision to postpone the event due to rising Covid-19 concerns. The Americas Championship, originally commencing late January has a revised set of dates, rescheduled for March 6-March 13, 2022.

“The health and safety of our players, staff and wheelchair rugby family is paramount” said WRC High Performance Director, Jean-Philippe Lavoie. “We support 100% WWR and the Organizing Committee on the postponement of the Americas Championship tournament to keep us all safe & healthy in these quite uncertain times. We look forward to competing at the Americas Championship in Colombia when it is safe to do so”.

The 2022 Americas Championship is a WWR tournament that provides qualification to the 2022 World Championship. Participating teams include Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, & United States.
